Hand to the Land
Not being beaten by the ‘black rays of the sun,’ Sr Helen Clarke RSC and the “Hand to the Land” team conduct women’s wellness weekends in remote rural areas of New South Wale
The annual Mater Hospital Golf Day attracts 100+ doctors and staff from St Vincents & Mater Health Sydney. The raffle and auction raising over $5,000, was given to assist the “Hand to the Land” program.
“The program helps women with their physical and emotional health, which in turn helps them to support their families. Without the Mater Hospital Golf Day, “Hand to the Land” would not be possible,” said Sr Helen.
Isolated, many of the women who live in such remote areas struggle financially, emotionally and spiritually. The “Hand to the Land” team provides education on medical issues, facilitates social interaction, establishes and promotes networks of support and friendship.
