Day medical patients include those undergoing chemotherapy, radiation oncology and renal dialysis.
Chemotherapy
Patients are usually referred by their doctor who has prescribed treatment as a day only patient. The Patricia Ritchie Centre for Cancer Care and Research at the Mater Hospital is designed for the comfort and safety of patients who need medical procedures that require observation for some time but not an overnight stay.
Highly trained and experienced nursing staff care for our patients while they are in the centre. Other members of the treatment and support team include pharmacists, physiotherapists, breast care nurses, pastoral carers, counsellors/clinical psychologists and/or relaxation therapists. read more…
