Education

Committed to excellence in care, teaching and research we engage in the ongoing development of staff and healthcare professionals through training and education.

At the Mater our dedicated Staff Development Department provides all staff with education opportunities and career development paths. We have a dedicated policy for financial assistance and study leave support as well as scholarships for educational opportunities.

The Mater is a teaching hospital for the Australian Catholic University, the University of New South Wales, the University of Notre Dame Australia, the University of Tasmania and the University of Technology Sydney, as well as North Sydney, Meadowbank and Ultimo TAFE.

Our partnerships include undergraduate and postgraduate placements for medical and nursing students and we host academic chairs in surgical oncology and medical oncology. We also work with our teaching partners to provide leadership and formation programs for staff. Orientation, induction and mandatory training are provided for all staff on site.
