The research component of this surgical offering is extensive and the Mater Hospital, along with one of the major teaching hospital, were the first sites to contribute to the first tumour banks for molecular genetics research in Australia which commenced over 19 years ago.
The Mater has made a large contribution to Endocrine Surgery in research and teaching as well as providing an excellent surgical service.
