Allied health services

Mater pharmacy

Open seven days a week for dispensing prescriptions to patients and visitors, and conveniently located in the hospital foyer, the pharmacy caters for all requirements. Specialist pharmacist consultations, breast pump hire, and newborn requirements are available. Patients are encouraged to call past the Mater Pharmacy to have prescriptions filled, before leaving the Mater.

Physiotherapy

We are part of your healthcare team and depending on your particular needs provide a range of services and treatments from manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, education, lifestyle advice, soft tissue techniques and electrophysical modalities. Our physiotherapists strive to enhance your health and maximise your potential.
Our physiotherapists are highly trained to assess and diagnose your condition, then plan and administer treatment programs to restore function to the highest possible level. Our physiotherapists also work in partnership with your Doctor and other health professionals to ensure the best possible treatment and care.

Nuclear medicine

Utilising radioactive isotopes, the Mater's Nuclear Medicine department provides diagnostic and therapeutic services in a wide range of clinical situations.

Radiation oncology

Radiotherapy treatment is primarily used in the management of cancer. It can also be used for certain other non-cancerous or 'benign' conditions. At the Mater, radiotherapy is provided by Radiation Oncology Associates Pty Ltd. www.cancer.com.au

Nutrition services

We have a team of qualified Clinical Dietitians and Nutrition Assistants who are available for consultation with patients and can advise on the relationship between food, diet and illness. The Mater's chef, food service division and dietitians work together to ensure meals are nutritionally appropriate for patients with special needs and to suit a variety of food tastes

Allied health accounts

Patients requiring the use of the Mater's allied clinical services will be charged separately and payments should be made directly to the specific unit concerned.

You may be entitled to claim part of the account from Medicare or your health fund. If you have any queries about your account, please contact the relevant department during business hours.
