The Mater has a comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical team that compliments the Cardiology Services. These services include coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve repair and replacement.
Vascular Surgery
The Mater Endovascular surgeons provide a comprehensive range of vascular surgical services both within the operating and angiography suites.
Intensive Care Unit
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is an 8 bed unit designed specifically for the treatment of patients who are recovering from major surgery and specialises in cardiothoracic, vascular and advanced surgery.
The ICU team consists of highly skilled professionals from Intensive Care Consultants and medical officers to nurses, physiotherapists, dieticians, pharmacists, speech pathologists, and social workers. The ICU team strives to improve a patient's condition as quickly as possible so it is safe for them to be transferred to a ward and cared for in a less intense environment.
The unit is supported by Hutchinson Ward, a 22 bed monitored step-down ward.
